Shipping Lead Full-time

Job description

The Shipping Lead oversees the daily operations of the shipping department, ensuring all outbound shipments are processed efficiently, accurately, and on time. This role involves supervising shipping staff, coordinating logistics, maintaining compliance with safety and shipping regulations, and liaising with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Leadership

• Lead, train, and manage shipping team members.
• Assign tasks and monitor performance to meet department goals
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Shipping Operations

• Oversee packing, labeling, and documentation of shipments.
• Coordinate with carriers and logistics partners to schedule pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure timely and accurate shipping of all orders.

Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain accurate shipping records and logs.
• Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure stock accuracy.
• Resolve discrepancies related to shipping and inventory.

Compliance & Safety

• Enforce compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
• Conduct regular safety checks and training sessions.

Process Improvement

• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies; recommend and implement improvements.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations.
• Previous supervisory or team leader experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of shipping software and logistics systems.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery (certification may be required).
