Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: Starting salary range: $45,000 – $55,000, based on experience

Job Summary:

If you’re a sharp, versatile writer with a knack for storytelling and a passion for mountain culture, this is your chance to shape the voice of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain, two of the most iconic destinations in Eastern North America. We’re seeking a Brand Communications Specialist who can craft compelling content across platforms, support resort-wide messaging, and help bring big ideas to life through copywriting, blogging, social media, press releases, internal comms, and more.

The ideal candidate is part creative, part strategist; someone who can jump from writing an engaging Instagram caption to building a guest-facing FAQ, then pivot to drafting a blog post or responding to a media inquiry. You’ll work closely with the communications and creative teams to maintain a consistent brand voice, drive engagement, and support marketing goals year-round. Whether you’re writing up the Conditions Report after a big snowstorm, drafting The Drift newsletter, helping field media requests, or working on killer copy for a social post, your words will inform, inspire, and elevate the Killington/Pico guest experience.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Collaborate and brainstorm with other marketing and communications team members to create written content for promotions, ads, digital advertisements, signs, radio, podcast, & video scripts and on-site advertising
  • Prepare copy for weekly The Drift, and bi-weekly Sunset Schuss as well as other email marketing campaigns
  • Send marketing emails upon request
  • Manage the resort’s Insider blog and potentially other blog channels. This includes researching and scheduling content, and writing and distributing content for the resort, business units and community channels
  • Assist in photo & video content creation for social media channels including Facebook,TikTok, Twitter, Instagram and others to reinforce brand, raise awareness, and maximize exposure
  • Assist in developing social media calendars driven by data and insights to support marketing efforts
  • Assist in engaging, building, and proactively managing a positive social media community across organic and paid experiences
  • Develop and maintain brand voice, style, and processes for social engagement
  • Assist other resort departments with copywriting and editing of guest and employee facing communications
  • Draft press releases and complete media requests
  • General marketing communications proof-reading
  • Assist in internal communications. Including, but not limited to owning Resort Update, KPAA Resort Update, and Internal Memos
  • Assist in snow reporting and alerts  
  • Assist with media visits and media inquiries
  • Assist in content management through knowledge of Canto, provide content upon request, monitoring and updating content
  • Stay up to date with current Marketing trends
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus 2-3 years relevant marketing, PR or journalism experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Familiarity with SEO concepts
  • Knowledge of bulk email platforms (Acoustic, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Sprout, Hubspot etc.)
  • Experience with website CMS preferred
  • Experience with ChatGPT, Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe Premier, In-design and Photoshop preferred
  • Must have extensive skiing/snowboarding experience (advanced intermediate or above level skier or snowboarder) and knowledge of skiing/snowboarding terminology
  • Familiarity with ski industry and Killington Resort and Pico Mountain are preferred
